HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Basketball weekly award winners on Monday as Saint Elizabeth’s Elyssa Russo was named Player of the Week and Immaculata’s Carly Coleman was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Player of the Week: Elyssa Russo
School: Saint Elizabeth
Class: Senior
Position: Guard
Hometown: Teaneck, N.J.
High School: Teaneck
Brief Outlook of Week: Russo had a stellar week, starting with a 22 point, 10 steal double-double in the win at Pratt. She then had 26 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals against Gwynedd Mercy, totaling 12 steals on the week!
Defensive Player of the Week: Carly Coleman
School: Immaculata
Class: Sophomore
Position: Forward
Hometown: Springfield, Pa.
High School: Cardinal O’Hara
Brief Outlook of Week: Over two conference wins, Coleman totaled 18 rebounds to go along with six steals and two blocked shots. In Wednesday’s come-from-behind victory at Marymount, Coleman stuffed the stat sheet with eight rebounds, four steals, and two blocks while also adding seven assists. She followed that effort on Saturday at Pratt Institute with 10 rebounds and two more steals in just 19 minutes of action, securing her second triple-double of the season.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Catie Kolwey, Marymount: Kolwey was impressive on both ends of the court for the Saints last week. Averaging 16.0 points per game, the forward averaged a double-double with 10.5 rebounds per game. She shot 81% from the floor. In Saturday's regular season finale, Kolwey had 21 points alongside 13 rebounds for a double-double, adding in five blocks to her impressive line.
Megan Cavoli, Marywood: Cavoli led Marywood to a 1-1 week with 13 points per game. She provided the Pacers with an overtime win over Neumann with an 11-point effort. Cavoli scored 15 points in a tight loss to Marymount.
Bri Gautier, Neumann: Gautier averaged nine rebounds and eight points as Neumann wrapped up the regular season 1-1. To start the week, the junior had four points and nine rebounds in a 60-53 overtime loss to Marywood. She followed with 14 points and nine boards as the Knights clinched a postseason berth with a 66-51 win at Centenary.
Kylie Grant, Pratt: Grant led the Cannoneers' offense, averaging 15.0 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in two home contests. In a narrow loss to Saint Elizabeth, she was all over the floor, scoring 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out four assists. She followed that with an 11-point, five-rebound performance against Immaculata on Senior Day, wrapping up her career with 1,381 points.
