HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Basketball weekly award winners on Monday, as Centenary’s Vatijah Davis was named Player of the Week and Immaculata’s Carly Coleman was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Player of the Week: Vatijah Davis
School: Centenary
Class: Junior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Poconos, Pa.
High School: Pocono Mountain West
Brief Outlook of Week: In the Cyclones lone win of the game, Davis scored 39 points, over half of the team’s points, with 16 rebounds to lead a comeback, 73-70 win in the final minutes against Lancaster Bible.
Defensive Player of the Week: Carly Coleman
School: Immaculata
Class: Sophomore
Position: Forward
Hometown: Springfield, Pa.
High School: Cardinal O’Hara
Brief Outlook of Week: Coleman totaled 57 points, 36 rebounds, 15 assists, and 12 steals over three games for the Mighty Macs. She opened the week against Arcadia, posting 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Over the weekend, the sophomore recorded back-to-back double-doubles. In Saturday night’s win over Kean, she scored 16 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, while adding seven assists and six steals before capping the tournament with a career-high 26 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and three steals in the championship game against Salisbury.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Catie Kelsey, Marymount: Junior forward showed dominance in Wednesday's win over Hood, notching a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, adding two blocks and two steals. The forward dished out three assists to add to her line, helping lead the way for the Saints' dominant win over the Blazers.
Emily DuPont, Neumann: DuPont scored 22 points, scoring exactly half of the Knight’s total points, and pulled down 15 rebounds in the lone game of the week, good for a double-double in the loss to Haverford. DuPont scored her 1,000th career point and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line.
Anabela Jakelic, Pratt: Jakelic posted a 15-point, 22-rebound double-double in Pratt’s lone game of the week, picking up a pair of assists and steals as well. She accounted for nearly 40% of the team’s scoring and 40% of the team’s rebounding, all while playing the entire 40 minutes.
