HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Basketball weekly award winners on Monday as Marymount’s Chandler Eddleton was named Player of the Week and Immaculata’s Carly Coleman named Defensive Player of the Week.
Player of the Week: Chandler Eddleton
School: Marymount
Class: Fifth Year
Position: Guard
Hometown: Richmond, Va.
High School: Collegiate School
Brief Outlook of Week: Eddleton continued to impress in AEC play, averaging 23 points in Marymount's pair of games last week, shooting 52% from the field. Adding nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals across both match ups, the graduate student put up a strong overall week.
Defensive Player of the Week: Carly Coleman
School: Immaculata
Class: Sophomore
Position: Forward
Hometown: Springfield, Pa.
High School: Cardinal O’Hara
Brief Outlook of Week: Coleman anchored Immaculata on the defensive end, piling up 10 steals and four blocked shots while adding 20 rebounds in a pair of conference play victories. Coleman also contributed 35 points and nine assists, recording her 10th and 11th double-doubles of the season. In Wednesday’s win over Marymount, Coleman set the tone defensively with four blocks and four steals to go along with 10 rebounds, while adding 22 points on offense as well. The sophomore continued her defensive dominance in Saturday’s victory over Pratt, finishing with six steals and 10 rebounds, with 13 points and six assists.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Erin Eisenhart, Gwynedd Mercy: Eisenhart led the Griffins to a 1-1 week of AEC play as Gwynedd Mercy University split home games with a win against Centenary and a loss to Saint Elizabeth. She recorded 12 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and two steals in the win over the Cyclones, before totaling 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, one block, and one steal in the loss to the Eagles.
Catie Kolwey, Marymount: Kolwey continued to be a threat on the defensive end of the court for Marymount. In last week's games, the junior forward put up six total blocks, while adding three steals and 16 total rebounds, averaging 11 points per game.
Anyah Ortiz, Marywood: Ortiz led a defensive effort by totaling eight steals and 14 rebounds over two games. She totaled a double-double with 10 rebounds and 11 points in a victory over Neumann, alongside five steals. The senior then tacked on three steals in an overtime loss to Marymount.
Emily DuPont, Neumann: DuPont averaged 18.5 points and six blocks per game while adding nine steals and six blocks across the week. In a 61-52 loss to Marywood, the 5th year scored 19 points and added eight rebounds, six steals, four assists and four blocks. Against Centenary, she netted 18 points.
Anabela Jakelic, Pratt: Jakelic dominated the paint for the Cannoneers, averaging a double-double with 16.0 points and 12.0 rebounds over two conference games. She erupted for a season-high 23 points to go along with 14 rebounds in a hard-fought battle at Saint Elizabeth. She followed that performance with another near double-double against first-place Immaculata, posting nine points and 10 rebounds. For the week, she also added four blocks per game.
Ahjionae Cobb, Saint Elizabeth: Cobb led the Eagles to an undefeated week, starting with a 14 point, nine rebound, two 2 assist, performance against Pratt, adding in one block as well. She then posted 17 points, nine rebounds, one assist and one steal in the win over Gwynedd Mercy.
