HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Basketball weekly award winners on Monday as Immaculata’s Carly Coleman was named Player of the Week and Marymount's Catie Kolwey was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Player of the Week: Carly Coleman
School: Immaculata
Class: Sophomore
Position: Forward
Hometown: Springfield, Pa.
High School: Cardinal O’Hara
Brief Outlook of Week: Coleman had a dominant week, leading Immaculata to two critical conference play road victories, in which she totaled 51 points, 23 rebounds, three blocked shots, and four steals across the two games. On Wednesday, against Saint Elizabeth, Coleman recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 17 points, 17 rebounds (tying her career high), two blocks, and one steal. Against Centenary on Saturday, she posted a career-high with 34 points on 12-of-19 shooting (63.2%) while adding six rebounds, one block, and three steals. Coleman scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, including plays that helped erase an eight point deficit.
Defensive Player of the Week: Catie Kolwey
School: Marymount
Class: Junior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Hollywood, Md.
High School: Leonardtown
Brief Outlook of Week: Kolwey continued to impress, racking up six steals and four blocks in Marymount's 2-0 week in conference action. Adding 9.5 rebounds per game, the junior chipped in nine points per game to remain effective on both ends of the court for Marymount. In a midweek win against Neumann, Kolwey pulled down 13 boards, shot 80% from the free throw line, dished out three assists, and added a pair of both blocks and steals, all capped off with 14 points on the attacking end. On Saturday, as the Saints headed to New York, the junior recorded four steals, two blocks, six rebounds and two assists, leading a defense that only allowed 33 points in a win against Pratt.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Kaylah Barr, Marymount: The sophomore averaged 14.0 points per game with seven rebounds per game and four assists per game in Marymount's 2-0 week in conference play. In Wednesday's match up against Neumann, Barr notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. That was followed up by a 10 point, four assist, four rebound and two steal performance on the road against Pratt.
Alli Anstadt, Marywood: Anstadt led the Pacers defensively with seven steals and 13 rebounds in a pair of Atlantic East contests. She had four steals and six boards in a double overtime win over Gwynedd Mercy. Anstadt factored in with seven rebounds and three steals against Saint Elizabeth.
Kylie Grant, Pratt: Grant averaged 17.5 points and seven rebounds per game, leading Pratt in scoring over a two-game stretch. She opened the week by pouring in a season-high 21 points to go along with eight rebounds at Centenary. Grant followed that with a team-best 14 points and six rebounds against Marymount on Saturday.
Ahjionae Cobb, Saint Elizabeth: Cobb recorded 20 points in the win against Marywood on Saturday after dropping 24 points against Immaculata on Wednesday. She averaged 22 points per game on the week, grabbing 14 rebounds, averaging seven per game, while adding one steal and one block across the two games.
Yasminah White, Saint Elizabeth: White recorded six steals in a road win against Marywood, addinf four rebounds, two assists and 11 points. Earlier in the week, she posted 18 points, one steal, two assists and eight rebounds against Immaculata.
