Marymount's McShea, Haddad Sweep Women's Basketball Players of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the women's basketball weekly awards on Monday afternoon, as Marymount University swept the honors with Katie McShea earning Player of the Week for the fifth time this season and Gabriella Hadad earned her first Defensive Player of the Week of the year.

Player of the Week:

Brief Outlook of Week: McShea added two more double-doubles to her season tally last week, leading Marymount to conference wins over Cabrini, 68-45, and Neumann, 91-48. She posted 27 points and 12 rebounds against the Cavaliers, coming up just three assists shy of a triple-double, with seven while adding three steals. McShea followed that with 20 points and 10 rebounds against Neumann, while chipping in five assists and a block. For the week, she shot 76 percent, going 19-for-25 from the field for 47 points to go with 22 rebounds, 12 assists, three steals, and a block.

School: Marymount University

Hometown: Germantown, Md.
High School: Clarksburg
Brief Outlook of Week: Haddad helped Marymount posted a 2-0 week with wins over Cabini, 68-45, and Neumann, 91-48, in Atlantic East action. She finished the week with four steals, two in each game, and 17 defensive rebounds. She pulled down eight against Cabrini and nine against Neumann. Total, she had nine rebounds against the Cavaliers and 11 against Neumann. Haddad tallied a double-double against the Knights, with 18 points, as well.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Elise Sylvester (Gwynedd Mercy / Freshman / Guard): Sylvester posted a career-high 19 points this week against Cabrini. For the week the rookie averaged 16.0 ppg on 50% shooting from the field while recording seven steals, seven assists and six rebounds.

Ashley Tutzauer (Cabrini / Junior / Guard): Tutzauer highlighted her week with a career high 31 points in a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins on Saturday afternoon. The junior finished 11-18 from the field, including 7-8 from the charity stripe, and added six rebounds, three assists and two blocks to help Cabrini capture a 107-88 victory. 

Theresa Kearney (Immaculata / Junior / Guard): Kearney turned in another strong effort on Saturday afternoon opposite Wesley, ending the contest with 22 points and eight rebounds in an impressive 70-41 comeback victory for the Macs. Kearney was held to just two points through the opening 20 minutes going 0-of-4 from the field before exploding for 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting in the second half to lead the comeback effort. This performance also places Kearney just 20 points away from scoring her 1000th point, which would make her the first player to do so since Tamyra Laws and the first player to score all 1,000 at Immaculata since current assistant coach Sara Smith.
