Fisher, Aungst Highlight First Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the first Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday afternoon, as Marymount University's Abby Fisher claimed Player of the Week and Marywood University's Aryah Aungst earned Defensive Player of the Week.

Player of the Week:
Name: Abby Fisher
School: Marymount University
Class: Graduate
Position: Guard
Hometown: Danville, Pa.
High School: Warrior Run
Brief Outlook of Week: Fisher led Marymount in a season-opening 64-39 victory over Shenandoah on Saturday. She finished with a game-high 14 points and six assists, while tying for a team-high six rebounds. She also tallied two steals, tying for the team lead, and converted on three-of-four three-point shots, while going five-for-nine from the floor.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Aryah Aungst
School: Marywood University
Class: Senior
Position: Guard
Hometown: Downingtown, Pa.
High School: Downingtown East
Brief Outlook of Week: Aungst posted a double-double in the Pacers' opening 69-57 loss to Elizabethtown. She provided a career-high 26 points and 11 rebounds, nine of which were on the defensive end. Aungst shot 9-for-19 from the field and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe. She also contributed two blocks and a steal. 

Weekly Honor Roll:
Shannon Carroll (Gwynedd Mercy / Junior / Forward): Carroll posted 11 points and seven rebounds against Misericordia on Saturday. The junior was a productive 4-of-7 from the field and made three free throws.

Angelique Gathers (Wesley / Sophomore / Forward): Gathers led the Wolverines with 21 points in their season opener at King's College. She went 8-for-15 from the floor, and added a steal and five rebounds.
