Thompson, Fisher Named Women's Basketball Players of the Week
LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the women's basketball weekly awards on Monday afternoon, as Gwynedd Mercy University's Sydney Thompson earned her first Player of the Week honor and Marymount University's Abby Fisher grabbed her first Defensive Player of the Week.

Name: Sydney Thompson
School: Gwynedd Mercy University
Class: Junior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Collegeville, Pa.
High School: Methacton
Brief Outlook of Week: Thompson led the high powered Griffin offense with a pair of 20-point games against Neumann and Immaculata. The junior shot 70 percent (14-of-20) from the field and 64 percent (7-of-11) from three point land. Thompson also grabbed 13 rebounds, seven assists and four steals for the 2-0 week and just 40 minutes of play.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Abby Fisher
School: Marymount University
Class: Graduate
Position: Guard
Hometown: Danville, Pa.
High School: Warrior Run
Brief Outlook of Week: Fisher finished the week with five steals to help lead Marymount to Atlantic East wins over Immaculata and Marywood. She added 15 rebounds on the week, with seven against the Mighty Macs and eight against Marywood. She added eight assists and 15 points to her stat line from the other end of the court.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Jordan Rook (Immaculata / Freshman / Guard): Rook continued her strong stretch of play this week as the freshman guard set two more career highs in scoring while also recording her first career double-double and a new career-high in rebounding. On Wednesday evening at Marymount, Rook set a new career-high for scoring with a team-high 19 points in the setback. On Saturday afternoon opposite Gwynedd Mercy, Rook kept the Macs in the game throughout as she finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds, which were both career-highs for the freshman in arguably her best performance as a Mighty Mac.
Ariana McGeary (Cabrini / Freshman / Forward): McGeary was a force in the Cavs convincing win over Wesley as the rookie tallied 17 points and 6 rebounds in just nine minutes of action. The freshman finished the day a perfect 8-8 from the field, while securing four offensive rebounds and a block for good measure.
Gabriella Haddad (Marymount / Senior / Forward): Haddad led Marymount to conference wins over Immaculata and Marywood, last week. She led the team with 21 points, nine rebounds, and five steals against the Mighty Macs. She added 15 points against Marywood, while adding two more steals. For the week, she shot 70.8 percent from the floor.
