Marymount's McShea, Shackelford Sweep Women's Basketball Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday afternoon, as Marymount University swept the honors including Katie McShea's third-straight Player of the Week and Symantha Shackelford earning her first career Defensive Player of the Week.

Player of the Week:
Name: Katie McShea
School: Marymount University
Class: Sophomore
Position: Forward
Hometown: Hainesport, N.J.
High School: Bishop Eustace Prep
Brief Outlook of Week: McShea helped Marymount post a 2-1 record over the past week, recording double-doubles and scoring 20-plus points in all three games. In wins over Hood and Gallaudet, she tallied 20 and 21 points, respectively, while pulling down 13 rebounds against the Blazers, and grabbing 11 against the Bison. In a close overtime loss against Mary Washington, McShea finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds. She finished the week with seven assists, four steals, and three blocks, while shooting 53 percent from the floor.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Symantha Shackelford
School: Marymount University
Class: Freshman
Position: Guard
Hometown: Woodbridge, Va.
High School: Bishop Ireton
Brief Outlook of Week: Shackelford led Marymount with 10 steals on the week, as the team went 2-1 in its three games. She posted a career-high six steals in a win over Gallaudet, while adding another three steals in an overtime loss to Mary Washington. In addition to her 10 steals, she added seven rebounds, 26 points and an assist.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Kate Lannon (Cabrini / Junior / Forward): Lannon tied her season high with 17 points in the Cavs 86-61 victory over Brooklyn College on Saturday afternoon. The junior stuffed the stat sheet as she finished just one point shy of the team lead, while adding a team high eight rebounds. She also chipped in a steal and an assist for good measure. 

Kamryn Englert (Neumann / Sophomore / Forward): Returning to the lineup this week, Englert averaged 10.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games. The sophomore tallied a double-double in a win over Valley Forge with 15 points and 12 rebounds. 

Lekeshia Brown-Myric (Wesley / Senior / Guard): In the Wolverines' lone game of the week, Brown-Myric totaled 15 points, six steals, four assists, and three rebounds in a victory over Medgar Evers.

Shannon Carroll (Gwynedd Mercy / Junior / Forward): Carroll posted a pair of double digit scoring games this week against Wilkes and DeSales. Defensively the junior grabbed nine rebounds and recorded three blocks against DeSales. She grabbed seven rebounds against Wilkes with a pair of steals. Carroll finished the week with 22 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and a pair of three pointers.
