McShea, Wessels Tabbed Women's Basketball Players of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday afternoon, as Marymount University's Katie McShea earned her second-straight Player of the Week accolade and Gwynedd Mercy University's Tamia Wessels was named Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Position: Forward
Hometown: Hainesport, N.J.
High School: Bishop Eustace Prep
Brief Outlook of Week: McShea led Marymount past Stevenson in the team's only game of the week, 77-43, on Tuesday. She scored a game-high 18 points on 53-percent shooting, while adding nine rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes. On the boards, she pulled down five offensive rebounds, while not registering a foul and turning the ball over just twice. 

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Tamia Wessels
School: Gwynedd Mercy University
Class: Freshman
Position: Guard
Hometown: Abington, Pa.
High School: Abington
Brief Outlook of Week: Wessels led the defense with five steals and six rebounds in just 20 minutes for the Griffins in their lone game of the week, topping John Jay. The freshman also added 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting adding a pair of assists. She has had multiple steals in each of her last five games, with her five against John Jay being a career best for her so far. 

Weekly Honor Roll:
Terea Hunt (Neumann / Freshman / Guard): Hunt picked up a double-double in Neumann's lone game of the week. Despite the loss, the freshman scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against undefeated Widener. She also added four steals. 

Brielle Rigo (Immaculata / Junior / Forward): Rigo enjoyed a strong week last week as the junior led the Macs in scoring on Tuesday afternoon at Albright, scoring 15 points while also coming away with 13 rebounds to record a double-double. It's her third double-double in the last four games. The junior currently ranks third on the team in scoring averaging 8.7 points per game while also leading the team in rebounding with 8.6 rebounds per game.
