HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Softball weekly award winners on Monday, as Marymount’s Valeria Gutierrez De Oliveira was named Player of the Week and Bailey Demusz was named Pitcher of the Week.
Player of the Week: Valeria Gutierrez De Oliveira
School: Marymount
Class: Freshman
Position: Shortstop
Hometown: Abingdon, Md.
High School: Edgewood
Brief Outlook of Week: Valeria Gutierrez De Oliveira impressed at the dish for the Saints last week, leading to four-straight wins. Batting .636 through 11 at-bats, the shortstop knocked two home runs and three doubles to slug 1.455. She drove in 10 total RBI.
Pitcher of the Week: Bailey Demusz
School: Marymount
Class: Senior
Position: Pitcher
Hometown: Doylestown, Pa.
High School: Central Bucks West
Brief Outlook of Week: Demusz won twice in the circle last week for the Saints, almost making history on Saturday. Pitching back-to-back complete games, Demusz was one out away from a no-hitter in Saturday's affair against Centenary. She allowed just one unearned run across 14.0 innings pitched, striking out 10.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Alexis Andrada, Immaculata: Andrada had a strong four-game stretch for Immaculata, going 9-for-15 with four runs scored, seven RBIs, three doubles, and a triple.
Tori Para, Marywood: Para batted .533 with six RBIs and five runs to lead the Pacers to a 4-2 record this week. She went 3 for 5 in a doubleheader sweep against Keystone. Para drove in a pair of runs with a double in a victory over Misericordia. She also had two RBIs in a win at Neumann. Para extended her hitting streak to seven games.
Emily Ammon, Neumann: Ammon hit .650 (13-for-20) as Neumann went 5-1 overall and 1-1 in conference action. Ammon finished the week with 15 stolen bases, picking up the 100th stolen base of her career, becoming the first Knight to steal 100 bases. She also hit a double, two triples, scored 10 runs and knocked in five. On the week, Ammon also set the season record for stolen bases with 33, breaking her own record that was set last season, as well as set the single-game record for stolen bases, with six.
Rebecca DiLeo, Neumann: DiLeo went 2-0 in the circle for the Knights. The first year came in relief and picked up the 6-5 win over Widener. She went 4.1 innings and allowed just two hits and struck out a pair. DiLeo pitched a complete game in the 5-2 win over Marywood. She allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits and struck out four.
Kara Reyes, Saint Elizabeth: Reyes was a force for the Eagles on offense this past week, going 5 for 8 (.625), with two doubles, two RBIs, and three runs scored for the Eagles. She posted a slugging percentage of .875.
