Marymount Softball Closes out Season in NCAA Regionals

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Riding high off of a conference championship, the Saints punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row. The back-to-back AEC champs traveled to Oregon this time around, facing off against Linfield on Thursday and Transylvania on Friday in Oregon. 

 LINFIELD 22 MARYMOUNT 1

  • Marymount was limited to three hits in the 22-0 loss to Linfield, with Kaylee Atkins leading the offense by going 1-for-2 with a double.
  • Grace Gilbert reached base twice, finishing 1-for-1 with a walk, while Valeria Gutierrez De Oliveira added a hit and recorded an assist defensively at shortstop.
  • Samantha Richtol worked a walk for the Saints, and Haley Greer handled four putouts behind the plate.
  • Defensively, Gracie Himmelman made two putouts in left field, while Kaylee Atkins added four putouts at first base.
  • In the circle, Morgan Maslock tossed two innings in relief and struck out two batters for Marymount.

 TRANSYLVANIA 2 MARYMOUNT 1

  • Mady Archer scored Marymounts only run and reached base twice, going 1-for-2 with a walk while adding a defensive assist from center field.
  • Grace Gilbert delivered a strong effort at the plate, finishing 1-for-2 with a walk to post a team-best .667 on-base percentage.
  • Kaylee Atkins and Haylee Carpenter each collected hits for the Saints, with Atkins adding solid defense at first base with five putouts and part of an inning-ending double play.
  • Haley Greer drove in Marymounts only run and controlled the game defensively behind the plate, recording four putouts and throwing out two attempted base stealers.
  • Morgan Maslock kept Transylvania scoreless through five innings and finished with four strikeouts across 5.2 innings of work, allowing no earned runs.
  • Bailey Demusz came on in relief and retired the only batter she faced to close out the sixth inning.
