Saint Elizabeth's Garcia and Neumann's Wright Secure Softball Weekly Awards

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Softball weekly award winners on Monday, as Josilynn Garcia of Saint Elizabeth was named Player of the Week and Neumann’s Sydney Wright was named Pitcher of the Week.

Player of the Week: Josilynn Garcia
School: Saint Elizabeth

Position: Infield
Hometown: Northridge, Ca.
High School: John Marshall High
Brief Outlook of Week: Garcia was a part of an offensive explosion for the Eagles this past week, as she went 6 for 11 (.545), with a home run, a double, 5 RBIs, 3 runs scored, 2 walks, a hit by pitch. A slugging percentage of .909 and an on-base percentage of .643. Garcia this past week was a force to be reckoned with.


Pitcher of the Week: Sydney Wright
School: Neumann
Class: Junior
Position: Pitcher
Hometown: Eastampton Twp, N.J.
High School: Rancocas Valley
Brief Outlook of Week: Wright went 2-1 on the mound over 14.2 innings. The junior picked two complete games and struck out 12. In an 8-4 win over Gwynedd Mercy, she allowed four runs, two earned, and struck out three over 7.0 innings. She followed with a complete game shutout at Centenary and struck out seven while allowing just three runs. 
 


Weekly Honor Roll:
Nya Brown, Gwynedd Mercy:
Brown was 6-for-16 (.375) with 1 walk, 3 runs, and 6 runs-batted-in (RBI) in a 2-6 week for the Griffins. She was 3-for-3 with 2 runs and 3 RBI in a 11-2, five-inning win over Saint Elizabeth University.

Rylie Fitzsimmons, Gwynedd Mercy: Fitzsimmons was 2-2 this week. She earned both of the Griffins wins; the first with 3.2 innings of relief against Neumann University (W, 4-2) and 5.0 innings of starting duty against Saint Elizabeth University (W ,11-2 (5)). She recorded a strikeout in both appearances and held the Griffins' opponents to 2 runs on 12 hits and 4 walks over 8.2 innings.

Riley Marshall, Marywood: In six games, Marshall led Marywood with a 1.556 OPS, four extra-base hits, four stolen bases, seven runs, and seven RBIs. She drove in three RBIs in a doubleheader split against Centenary. In a loss to King's, Marshall hit a home run and drove in two RBIs, along with an outfield assist. She tripled in each game of a doubleheader loss to Marymount. Marshall has scored a run in 11 straight games. She hit .429 for the week. 

Kara Reyes, Saint Elizabeth: Reyes was able to pitch to a 2-0 record on the week for the Eagles. Going 5.2 on the week for the Eagles, striking out 4 while only surrendering one hit on the entire week for the Eagles. Reyes was also able to help herself on offense going 7 for 12 on the week (.583) with a double, 3 RBIs, 2 walks drawn, and 2 runs scored.
