LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men’s Lacrosse weekly award winners on Monday, as Cabrini’s Connor Herraiz and Gwynedd Mercy’s Jared Devine earn Player and Defensive Player of the Week Honors respectively.
Player of the Week:
Name: Connor Herraiz
School: Cabrini
Class: Sophomore
Position: Attack
Hometown: Succasunna, N.J.
High School: Pope John XXIII
Brief Outlook of Week: Herraiz had a 10-point game and a 6-point game as Cabrini completed conference play with a perfect record against Atlantic East opponents. The sophomore forward totaled 9 goals, 7 assists, 3 ground balls and a caused turnover across two games this week.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Jared Devine
School: Gwynedd Mercy
Class: Junior
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: :Pottstown, Pa.
High School: Owen J. Roberts
Brief Outlook of Week: Devine earned two wins while totaling 35 saves, four ground balls, and a caused turnover in AEC wins over Marywood (11-5) on Apr. 17 and Neumann ( 12-6) on Apr. 20. He was impressive in both victories; Devine recorded 16 saves, a ground ball, and caused a turnover against the Pacers, then kept the Knights at bay with 19 saves and 3 ground balls.
Weekly Honor Roll:
David Azzarano (Gr., Attack, Immaculata): Azzarano had a combined six goals, and seven assists, with six ground balls and one caused turnover in two games. He had four goals, and five assists, with four ground balls in helping lead Immaculata to an Atlantic East Conference win over Neumann on April 17th.
Jacob Brooks (So., Goalkeeper, Marymount): Back in the cage as the starter, Brooks matched a career-high with 16 saves on Saturday at Marywood. After holding a 6-5 lead at the break, the Saints held Marywood to just one goal after halftime to pull away for a 17-6 win.
Jake Methlie (Jr., Faceoff specialist, Neumann): Methlie won 35 of 42 faceoffs for 83.3% for the Knights in an 0-2 week. The junior also picked up 18 ground balls. Methlie went 23-for-27 against Immaculata and 12-for-15 at Gwynedd Mercy.
Jack Williams (Sr., Attack, Marymount): Williams scored three goals and added four assists in a 17-6 win over Marywood on Saturday. The senior now sits at 210 career points, 11 away from moving into first place all-time for the Saints.
