Centenary's Skjonnemand and Marymount's Franklin Tabbed Volleyball Players of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Volleyball weekly award winners on Monday, as Centenary’s Poppy Skjonnemand earned Player of the Week, while Alexis Franklin of Marymount claimed Specialist of the Week.

Player of the Week:
Name: Poppy Skjonnemand
School: Centenary

Position: Middle Blocker/ Outside Hitter
Hometown:  Southampton, UK  
High School: West Morris Mendham
Brief Outlook of Week: Skjonnemand led the Cyclones to a 1-0 week in conference play. The first year hit .538 in a 3-1 victory over Immaculata. Skjonnemand averaged 5.5 kills per set while also adding 4.75 digs per set and .5 blocks per set. In total in the match she had 22 kills and 19 digs on the day.

Specialist of the Week:
Name: Alexis Franklin
School: Marymount
Class: Fifth Year
Position: Setter
Hometown: Woodbridge, N.J.
High School: St. Hubert Catholic
Brief Outlook of Week: Franklin facilitated the Marymount offense in a 1-1 week for the Saints. She had 58 assists on the week, including an impressive 38 helpers in a three-set win over a 17-5 Stevenson squad. She also added 13 digs and two service aces.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Kaitlyn Doyle (Gr., Outside Hitter, Doyle): Doyle continued to lead the Marymount attack in a 1-1 week for the Saints. Overall, she had 27 kills on the week, averaging 4.5 kills per set. In a three-set win over a 17-5 Stevenson squad on Homecoming, Doyle picked up her 1,000th career kill (including time in JUCO). She added 18 digs and four service aces to round out her stat line.

Regan Hickey (Sr., Hitter, Neumann) - Hickey led the Knights with 28 kills as Neumann opened conference play 2-0. The senior also added 26 digs and 12 service aces. In both matches, Hickey tallied a double-double. She finished with 15 kills and 14 digs against Marywood and followed with 13 kills and 12 digs at Marywood. Against the Mighty Macs, Hickey tallied five service aces and seven against the Pacers.

Charlotte Pugh (So., Libero, Gwynedd Mercy) - Pugh has transitioned to the Libero role and excelled. She recorded 34 digs, two kills, and two assists in the Griffins' 3-1 (13-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-21) AEC victory over Marywood University. The sophomore averaged 8.5 digs per set.

Dani Smith (Jr., Setter, Neumann) - Smith handed out 58 assists in a 2-0 week in conference for Neumann. In a 3-0 win over Immaculata, Smith dished out 26 assists. At the Pacers, the junior had 32 assists and 11 digs.
