LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Volleyball weekly award winners on Monday, as Lauren Garvey of Neumann earned Player of the Week, while Ayanna Gaston of Gwynedd Mercy claimed Specialist of the Week.

Player of the Week:
Name: Lauren Garvey
School: Neumann
Class: Senior
Position: Hitter
Hometown:  Ashton, PA
High School: Cardinal O’Hara
Brief Outlook of Week: Garvey tallied 39 kills and 28 digs in a 2-1 week for Neumann. Her week high in kills came against St. Mary’s (Md.) with 18 kills in a 3-0 win. The senior followed with 14 digs in a 3-1 win over Regent.

Specialist of the Week:
Name: Ayanna Gaston
School: Gwynedd Mercy
Class: Sophomore
Position: Setter
Hometown: Middletown, Del.
High School: Middletown
Brief Outlook of Week: Gaston recorded six kills, 119 assists, 15 aces, 3 solo blocks, 4 block assists, and 31 digs in a 2-2 week. After topping 30 assists in matches with Penn State Berks (W, 3-1) and Cairn University (L, 0-3), Gaston scored 11 aces in the Griffins' narrow 3-2 loss to Albright College. She was also good for five points (2 Kills, 3 Ace) and 27 assists in a 3-0 win over Penn State Wilkes Barre.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Gianna Norton (Fy, Libero, Marywood) - Norton tallied 20 digs (6.67 per set) in the Pacers' 3-0 win over Saint Elizabeth.

Bria Purnell (Sr., Outside Hitter, Gwynedd Mercy): Purnell totaled 38 kills, 3 aces, a solo block, a block assist, and 15 digs in a 2-2 week. She reached 700 career kills with her first successful strike against Albright College and finished the match with 10 kills, 2 aces, a block assist, and four digs.

Dani Smith (Jr., Setter, Neumann) - Smith handed out 82 assists, eclipsing the 2,000-career assist mark, in a 2-1 week for Neumann. The junior also added 31 digs and eight services aces. Smith hit the 30-assist mark twice in the week with 30 in a 3-0 win at St. Mary’s (Md.) and then dished out 35 in a 3-0 win over Regent.

Libby Smith, (Jr., Outside Hitter, Marywood) - Smith led Marywood to a win over Saint Elizabeth in its only match of the week. She tied for a team-best 10 points with nine kills. Smith had a .400 hitting percentage, making just one error on 40 attempts.
