LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Volleyball weekly award winners on Monday, September 25th, as Marymount’s Kaitlyn Doyle earned Player of the Week, while Dani Smith of Neumann claimed Specialist of the Week.
Player of the Week:
Name: Kaitlyn Doyle
School: Marymount
Class: Graduate Student
Position: Outside Hitter
Hometown: Hernando, Miss.
High School: Hernando
Brief Outlook of Week: Kaitlyn Doyle had a phenomenal performance this weekend at the Worthington Classic. Over the course of 4 matches, she totaled 72 kills with 24 of those coming from the match against Arcadia in which she had a .340 hitting percentage. Not only did she do a stellar job offensively, she contributed massively defensively as well with 44 digs. In their match against Gallaudet, Kaitlyn lead her team both with the most kills and the most digs.
Specialist of the Week:
Name: Dani Smith
School: Neumann
Class: Junior
Position: Setter
Hometown: Morinville, Albertaa
High School: Morinville Community
Brief Outlook of Week: Dani Smith handed out 118 in a 2-1 week for Neumann. The junior also added 62 digs and three service aces. Smith had a week high 47 assists and 18 digs in a 3-1 win over Washington College.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Emily Ettien (Sr., Setter, Immaculata): Led Immaculata to a 4-0 week, handing out 63 assists for the week. Registered 25 kills, added 16 service aces, and 26 digs. In Immaculata’s match vs Cairn on 9/21 she had 14 kills, 15 assists, and seven digs in the four-set win. Ettien had seven kills, 20 assists, and set an Immaculata individual match record for the most service aces in a four-set match with 12 in the Mighty Macas four-set victory over Bryn Athyn. Ettien currently has 993 assists in her career, and has been a driving force behind the program’s best start since the 2014 season.
Alexis Franklin (Gr., Setter, Marymount): Alexis Franklin did a tremendous job this weekend at the Worthington Classic. Seeing action in every single set, she totaled 182 assists across 4 matches. Her stellar performance this weekend contributed massively in the four victories the Saints claimed this weekend. Alexis also had a couple services aces and blocks, demonstrating her skills both defensively and offensively.
