Baseball 4/25/2022 11:50:09 AM Cabrini Sweeps Baseball Weekly Accolades LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the baseball weekly honors on Monday, as Cabrini University's Gil Peralta earned Player of the Week and Jonathan Baker garnered Pitcher of the Week. Player of the Week: Name: Gil Peralta School: Cabrini University Class: Senior Position: SS Hometown: Glen Mills, PA High School: Delaware County CC Brief Outlook of Week: Peralta hit .562 (9-16) with five runs scored and eight RBIs in five games last week. Three of Peralta's nine hits went were doubles. Peralta also contributed two stolen bases. The shortstop went 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and matched his career high six RBIs in a 17-5 victory over Marywood University. The senior helped the team to a 4-1 week, including a win at Immaculata and three straight victories over the Pacers, as the Cavs moved up into second place in the conference standings. Pitcher of the Week: Name: Jonathan Baker School: Cabrini University Class: Senior Position: Pitcher Hometown: Upper Chichester, PA High School: Salesianum Brief Outlook of Week: Senior Jonathan Baker went 2-0 this week, allowing just three runs, nine hits, three walks and thirteen strikeouts in 14.2 innings on the mound. The righty started the nightcap of a doubleheader versus Immaculata and allowed two runs in 7.2 innings of work as Cabrini handed the Mighty Macs their first home conference loss of the season, 4-2. Baked also helped the team to a victory over the Marywood University Pacers, allowing just one run in seven innings on the mound, as the Cavs rolled to a 9-1 victory. Weekly Honor Roll: Brett Swire (Senior/Gwynedd Mercy): Swire was 9-for25 (.360) with a team-high nine runs scored and a team-high seven runs-batted-in (RBI) during the Griffins 4-2 week. All four victories came against AEC teams, including a pair of over both Neumann and Marymount; he was 4-for-8 with four runs and two RBI versus the former and 2-for-5 with four runs and three RBI in the second game with the Saints. Clint Wheeler (Senior/Marymount): Clint Wheeler pitched crucial innings for the Saints over the week, throwing a complete game and grabbing the win in Sunday's game one victory over Gwynedd Mercy. Wheeler threw 7.0 strong innings, allowing just five hits and one earned run. The senior also threw an inning of perfect relief against Marywood earlier in the week, closing out the game with a strikeout. Matt Oehrlein (Senior/Centenary): Oehrlein went 2-1 with a 0.00 ERA in three relief appearances (7.2 innings) for the Cyclones. He secured the win on Monday against Rosemont as he gave up just one unearned run on one hit in the top of the seventh. The Cyclones walked it off in the bottom of that inning. He suffered a tough loss at Cairn as he threw four innings and allowed one unearned run on three hits. Oehrlein got the win over Immaculata on Saturday as he threw 2.2 innings and gave up no runs on two hits. Ryan Crowell (Senior/Immaculata): Immaculata senior Ryan Crowell pitched a nine-inning complete game during Saturday’s victory against Centenary. Crowell allowed one run on six hits and one walk on the day while keeping Cyclones batters off-balance. He also picked up five strikeouts on the day on his way to his third win of the season. Mitchell Bramsway (Sophomore/Gwynedd Mercy): Bramsway collected a pair of saves while holding his opponents to a run on five hits and four walks. He struck out two and totaled 4.2 innings over three appearances. His second save was a six-out effort in the Griffins' 4-2 game-one win over Marymount University (Apr. 23).
