Crowding, Dino Named Baseball Players of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the baseball weekly honors on Monday, as Immaculata University's Josh Crowding earned Player of the Week and Cabrini University's Brian Dino garnered Pitcher of the Week.

Brief Outlook of Week: Junior catcher Josh Crowding went 5-for-8 at the plate on the week, leading the Mighty Macs offense to two wins against Alvernia and Swarthmore on the week. On Wednesday, Crowding went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI, picking up two defensive assists in the Macs’ 7-3 win over Alvernia. Then, on Friday, Crowding went 1-for-3 recording two RBI while reaching base four times in the Macs’ 10-6 victory over the Garnet. On the season, the catcher is sitting at a .442 batting average and a team-leading 1.091 OPS.

Brief Outlook of Week: Brian Dino put in six innings of work on the mound. The freshman earned a save with seven strikeouts as the closer in Game 2 of a doubleheader versus Haverford. With runners on first and second and a full count Dino's final strikeout persevered the win for the Cavaliers. He also struck out four versus Eastern in 3.1 innings while allowing just two earned runs.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Alex Lemery (Senior/Marymount): Lemery helped the Saints continue their hot start to the campaign in a 2-1 week. The senior went 3-for-7 at the dish with five RBI, five runs, three walks and two stolen bases as the Saints improved to 14-2 on the season. In the series finale against Lesley, Lemer went 1-for-1 with a double and four RBI in a 19-5 win. He worked a walk in the first game of a twinbill against Mary Washington before turning in a 2-for-4 performance in a 24-4 win. Lemery registered three runs, one RBI, one walk, and one stolen base to help lift the Saints over the Eagles.

Jake Schuster (Grad/Marywood): Schuster led the Pacers to a sweep of John Jay, extending the Pacers' win streak to five games. Schuster went 3-for-6 with four RBI over the two wins, blasting two homeruns in a 8-1 nightcap win. Schuster added 10 putouts and one assist without an error in the two games.

Nick Guiro (Sophomore/Centenary): Guiro dominated on the mound to lead the Cyclones to a game-one win over Rosemont. The sophomore right-hander threw his second complete game of the season and first career shutout. Guiro limited Rosemont to just four hits in seven innings while striking out two. He did not allow a runner to reach second base till the seventh inning. Guiro needed just 67 pitches to pick up his third win of the season.

Brett Swire (Senior/Gwynedd Mercy): Swire was 9-for-19 (.474) with 8 runs scored, 11 RBI, 5 walks, and 3 stolen bases in the Griffins 4-1 week. In the first game of Sunday's Senior Day doubleheader was a runaway as Gwynedd Mercy University was already up 12-1 before 14-run sixth-inning runs added insult to injury in a 26-1 final. Swire knocked in seven runs with a first-inning ground out, a third-inning single to right field, a fifth-inning single to left field, and both a single and a walk in the extended sixth inning.

Drew Mead (Senior/ Marymount): Mead earned a win for the Saints in a 24-4 drubbing of Mary Washington. The lefty threw four innings of one-hit ball and surrendered just one run as the Saints surged behind his outing on offense. Mead fanned four batters in the process to pick up the win.
