INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Marymount baseball team was part of the 64-team field for the 2026 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Tournament, as announced by the NCAA Division III Baseball Committee Monday afternoon.
Marymount is making its third-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, having previously competed in 2025 and 2021. Last year, the Saints bowed out after going 0-2, with losses to Lynchburg (6-7) and Maryville (6-8).
Marymount (27-17) won the Atlantic East title after posting a 5-2 win over #3 Immaculata on the first day, and a 25-6 win against #4 Marywood on the second day. The Saints, on the final day, dropped the first game to #1 Centenary by a score of 3-5, forcing a game seven winner-take-all, in which Marymount posted a 15-9 win against the Cyclones. Outfielder Quincy Via led the conference with a staggering 60 stolen bases on 67 attempts, while posting a .405 batting average through 190 at bats. Ben Smallwood recorded the conference's best ERA this year, with a 1.74 across eight games (7-1). Joey Swekosky was one of four players in the Atlantic East to field perfectly on the season, with 73 put outs and two assists.
Salve Regina (36-6), lost to Babson in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball finals by a score of 21-2. The team went 1-2 in the torunament last year, bowing out to #8 Kean University in the NCAA Super Regional round.
Rounding out the pod of four is DeSales (33-12), who was awarded hosting rights and Ramapo (29-12), both of whom will face each other in opening round action. Both games will take place on Thursday, with the winner and loser advancing to their respective brackets in the double-elimination tournament. The Division III championship tournament is comprised of 16 four-team regionals using a double-elimination playoff format. The first weekend will be 16, four-team regionals, with those 16 winners advanving to Super Regionals, complied of eight best-of-3 series, with those eight winners advancing to the College World Series in East Lake, OH.
