Marywood's Sorce and Gwynedd Mercy's Gablein Named Women's Soccer Players of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Soccer Players of the Week on Monday for the week ending on October 29th. Player of the Week honors go to Marywood’s Josephine Sorce, while Gwynedd Mercy’s Natalie Gablein was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Brief Outlook of Week: Sorce broke the Marywood career assists record in a 7-0 win over Immaculata. Sorce had a goal and three assists for five points. All three helpers came in a eight-minute span to teammate Riley Mulherin. She surpassed Julie Youngman (2015-18) and Rebecca Grubb (2001-02) with her 31st career assist.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Natalie Gablein
School: Gwynedd Mercy
Class: Sophomore
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
High School: Archbishop Wood
Brief Outlook of Week: Gablein nullified a 2-14 Cyclone shot advantage with a dozen (12) saves in a 0-0 AEC tie with Centenary.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Rebekah Cunningham (Sr., Defender, Cabrini): Cunningham helped keep the first round match up with Gwynedd Mercy scoreless. She had eight shots including two that hit the crossbar in regulation and overtime. She converted on her penalty kick in the shootout.

Caroline Hassall (Jr., Goalkeeper, Cabrini): Hassall had a scoreless regular and overtime frame in her game against Gwynedd Mercy in the opening round of the Atlantic East Tournament. The junior goalkeeper made seven saves in the contest.
