LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Soccer Players of the Week on Monday for the week ending on October 15
th. Marymount Leonardo Torres and Gwynedd Mercy’s John Wagner earned Player and Defensive Player of the Week respectively.
Player of the Week:
Name: Leonardo Torres
School: Marymount
Class: Junior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Manassas, Va.
High School: Stonewall Jackson
Brief Outlook of Week: Torres, the reigning Atlantic East Player of the Year, continued to impress in his junior campaign by scoring four goals last week, including his third career hat trick in a monsoon on Saturday against Centenary. He now has 14 goals this season. The Saints are now unbeaten at home in 14 straight games dating back to September 2022. With three regular-season games left plus postseason play, Torres is knocking on the door of his own single-season goals record (18 in 2022).

Name: John Wagner
School: Gwynedd Mercy
Class: Graduate Student
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown:. Phoenixville, Pa.
High School: Pope John Paul III
Brief Outlook of Week: Wagner went 1-0-1 with starts in a 1-1 tie with Penn College and a 1-0 AEC Victory over Immaculata University. He totaled 10 saves, including seven in the shutout of the Mighty Macs. The win over Immaculata University is the Griffins' first AEC victory since October 21, 2019.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Jake Kuzmick (Jr., Forward, Neumann) – Kuzmick had two goals, one game-winner, and an assist as Neumann went 2-0 overall and remained undefeated in conference action. The junior opened the scoring at Cabrini and then assisted on the game-winning goal in the 3-2 win. Kuzmick followed with the game-opening and eventual winning goal in a 7-0 win over Penn State Schuylkill.
Matt Laudenslager (Fy., Midfield, Marywood) – Laudenslager scored two goals in a 1-1 week for the Pacers in Atlantic East play. He produced the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory over Cabrini. Laudenslager drilled a free kick from 30 yards out in the 68th minute. He had the Pacers' lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Centenary, taking a lead off a Danny Gomez assist in the 74th minute.
Carlos Varona (Gr., Defense, Marymount) – Varona led a defense that only allowed two goals in two games last week. The Saints are now unbeaten at home in 14 straight games dating back to September 2022.
John Wilhelm (Jr., Goalkeeper, Immaculata) – Wilhelm earned the clean sheet on Wednesday, October 11th making 12 saves as Immaculata defeated Stevenson 3-0.
