LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Soccer Players of the Week on Monday for the week ending on September 24^th. Marymount’s Leonardo Torres was named Player of the week, while teammate Carlos Varona was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Player of the Week:
Name: Leonardo Torres
School: Marymount
Class: Junior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Manassas, Va.
High School: Stonewall Jackson
Brief Outlook of Week:  Torres scored three goals in an impressive 2-0 week for the Saints. He now has six tallies on the season to lead Marymount. On Sunday, Torres slotted home the game-winner in the 76th minute to clinch the 2-1 win over Stevenson. 

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Carlos Varona
School: Marymount
Class: Graduate Student
Position: Defense
Hometown:. Miami, Fla.
High School: Columbus
Brief Outlook of Week: Varona played an integral part in getting Marymount two much-needed non-conference wins last week. Varona and the rest of the Saints defense held opponents to just two goals in a 2-0 week. Additionally, Varona had an impressive block on the endline against Stevenson that kept the Mustangs off the scoreboard early in the second half. 

Weekly Honor Roll:
Kasey Wallace (Jr., Midfielder, Gwynedd Mercy) - Wallace scored the game-winning goal (46:23) in the Griffins' 4-1 victory over Clarks Summit University and tied a game at McDaniel College at 1-1 with his goal in the 56th (55:29) minute.

Jason DiFilippo (So., Defense, Neumann) - Jason DiFilippo scored a goal and tallied an assist in a 2-1 win at Lancaster Bible in Neumann's lone game of the week. The sophomore tied the game at one with a goal in the 78th minute for his first goal of the 2023 campaign. He then assisted on the game-winning goal with just 50 seconds left in the game.
