Cabrini's Duddy and Marywood Russo Earn Men's Soccer Player of the Week Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday for the week ending on September 4th. Cabrini’s Matt Duddy was named Player of the week, while Marywood’s Alex Russo was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Brief Outlook of Week: Duddy led the Cavaliers to a 2-0 start to the season. The graduate student tallied two goals in the two games, both of which were the game winning tallies.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Alex Russo
School: Marywood
Class: Senior
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown:. Sparta, N.J.
High School: Pope John XXIII
Brief Outlook of Week: Russo notched a pair of clean sheets to open the season, leaving both Hartwick and Keystone scoreless during opening weekend. He stopped four shots in a 1-0 win over the Hawks. In the 48th minute, Russo saved a penalty kick. He made one save against the Giants.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Nolan Kozera, (Fy., Forward, Marywood) - Kozera led the Pacers to a pair of opening weekend wins over Hartwick and Keystone. He scored a lone goal in a 1-0 win over the Hawks, putting away a Jack Forbes pass from 18 yards away. Kozera assisted the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute of a 3-0 victory versus the Giants.

Jake Kuzmick (Jr., Forward, Neumann) - Kuzmick tallied a goal and an assist in a 5-0 season opener at Hood. The junior scored the opening goal in the fifth minute of the game for an early 1-0 lead. He then assisted on a goal in the 66th minute for a 2-0 lead.

Dominic Petruzzelli, (So., Defender, Cabrini) - Petruzzelli has played incredibly in both of the first two games at center back.  He played 180 minutes over the course of both games. His defensive efforts helped the Cavaliers to allow just one goal to start the season undefeated in opening weekend.
