LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday for the last week of games. Manny Clark of Gwynedd Mercy and Keith Farmer of Immaculata take Player and Defensive Player of the Week Honors.
Player of the Week:
Name: Manny Clark
School: Gwynedd Mercy
Class: Junior
Position: Guard
Hometown: Pottsgrove, Pa.
High School: Potsgrove
Brief Outlook of Week: In his only game of the week Clark finished with a career high 38 points. He went 14-for-19 from the field and 4-for-5 from three. Clark shot 74 percent, while also adding five rebound, five steals, and one assist for the game.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Keith Farmer
School: Immaculata
Class: Senior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Yeadon, Pa.
High School: Pennwood
Brief Outlook of Week: Farmer had a strong defensive showing for Immaculata as they held opponents to an average of 60.5 points per game across two games to lead them to a 1-1 week in conference play. In one game tallied 12 rebounds and averaged 1.5 blocks per game.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Marcus Beckett (Jr., Guard, Marymount): Junior Beckett came into his own over last week's competition, helping the Saints grab two strong conference wins, also taking down the Atlantic East preseason favorites Neumann. He dropped 35 points over the two games, going 14-for-19 from the field. He also went 4-of-6 from beyond the arc in two games. The guard added 12 total rebounds and three assists across two strong wins.
Brendan Franko (So., Guard, Marywood): Franko led the Pacers with 14.5 points, seven rebounds, 4.5 assists per game. He continued his hot shooting hand with 78 shooting percentage (14-of-18). Franko came off of the bench to lead Marywood to its Atlantic East win over Cabrini with aa double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds, in addition to six assists. Franko scored 14 in a loss to Gwynedd Mercy. Through four games Franko leads the conference with a .833 field goal percentage and leads the Pacers in scoring.
Jalan Vaughns (Jr., Forward, Neumann): Vaughns averaged 24 points and nine rebounds in a 1-1 week for Neumann in Atlantic East Conference action. In an 82-77 loss to Marymount, the junior scored 29, which put him over 1,000 as a Knight. He also grabbed ten boards for a double-double. Vaughns followed with 19 points and eight rebounds in a 72-62 game to put Neumann back in the win column.
