LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday for the last week of games. Jalen Vaughns of Neumann and Tyler Tillery of Immaculata take Player and Defensive Player of the Week Honors.
Player of the Week:
Name: Jalen Vaughns
School: Neumann
Class: Junior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Tobyhanna, Pa.
High School: Pocono Mountain West
Brief Outlook of Week: Vaughns tallied two double-doubles in a 2-0 week for Neumann, 1-0 in conference action. In a 92-72 win over Penn State Lehigh Valley, the junior scored 32 points, including his 1,000 career point. Vaughns added 14 rebounds. In a 101-83 come-from-behind win against Marywood in the conference opener, Vaughns netted 17 points and pulled down 10 boards. He finished the week averaging 24.5 points and 12 rebounds. He also added 1.5 assists and one steal per game, while shooting 66% from the field for the week.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Tyler Tillery
School: Immaculata
Class: Senior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Baltimore, Md.
High School: Gerstell Academy
Brief Outlook of Week: Tillery was a key factor in the 1-0 for Immaculata. The senior kept the conference leading scorer to just seven points after averaging over 18 per game so far this season. This helped the Macs allow just 56 points in the conference win over Centenary (NJ).
Weekly Honor Roll:
Keith Farmer (Sr., Forward, Immaculata): Finished with just under a double double in a 1-0 week for Immaculata. The senior tallied 17 points and nine rebounds to go with a one steal and one assist.
Vinson JoHann (Jr., Guard, Gwynedd Mercy): Vinson this week finished with six rebounds per game and 16.5 points per game. The junior also added three assists and a steal while shooting 63% for a 2-0 conference win week.
TJ Lewis (So., Guard, Neumann): Lewis averaged 20 points and 6.5 rebounds in a2-0 week for Neumann, 1-0 in Atlantic East action. In a 92-72 non-conference win over Penn State Lehigh Valley, the Sophomore netted 18 points and five rebounds while adding three assists. In Knights’ conference opener, Lewis scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds and handed out six assists. He was a perfect 11-for-11 from the line and was a key member in coming back from an early deficit in the 101-83 win.
Aziz Parker(Jr., Guard, Gwynedd Mercy): Parker helped his team to a 2-0 week, 1-0 in Atlantic East action. He was a force on the offensive side of the ball averaging 21 points and three rebounds per game, he also added three steals per game. Parker shot 58% from the field this week and 53% from three.
