Vaughns & Seitz Take First Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday, as Neumann University's Jalen Vaughns earned Player of the Week and Marywood’s Trevor Seitz grabbed Defensive Player of the Week.

School: Neumann University

Brief Outlook of Week:  Jalen Vaughns averaged 22.7 points and 9.3 rebounds as Neumann opened the season 2-1. The junior scored a week-high 25 points against Lebanon Valley. He also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double. Vaughns also tallied a double-double in the first game of the season, 24 points and 10 rebounds, against Alvernia.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Trevor Seitz
School: Marywood University
Class: Junior
Position: Guard
Hometown: York, Pa.
High School: Eastern York
Brief Outlook of Week: Seitz led the Pacers to an Electric City Classic title with 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists per game. He had a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds in the championship game against Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Seitz hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds remaining to send the game into a overtime, completing a 10-point comeback in the final 2:50. Seitz delivered Marywood the victory with a pair of steals and assists to Mason Mendrygral for the go-ahead points in overtime.
 
Weekly Honor Roll:
Manny Clark (Jr., G, Gwynedd Mercy): Clark in one game this week finished 10-16 from the field with 26 points. He was 3-5 from behind the arc. He also brought down five rebounds.
 
Billy Veras (Gr., F, Centenary): Veras averaged 20.5 points in a 1-1 week for the Cyclones while shooting 50% from the field. Shot 87.5% from beyond the arc going 7-for-8 on the weekend. He also brought in 13 rebounds for an average of 6.5.
