LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday, as Marywood’s Jason Holman earned Player of the Week and Neumann’s Jalen Vaughns grabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
Player of the Week:
Name: Jason Holman
School: Marywood
Class: Grad.
Position: Forward
Hometown: Taylor, Pa.
High School: Riverside
Brief Outlook of Week: Holman averaged 22.5 points per game to lead the Pacers to a win over Moravian and a loss to Wilkes. Holman scored a career-best 30 points in a 78-72 victory over the Greyhounds on the road. He had 15 in a last-second setback to the Colonels. For the week the graduate student averaged four rebounds, 2.5 assists, and two blocks per game. Holman made two-third of his attempts (18-of-27) for the week.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Jalen Vaughns
School: Neumann University
Class: Junior
Position: Forward/Guard
Hometown: Tobyhanna, Pa.
High School: Pocono Mountain West
Brief Outlook of Week: Jalen Vaughns tallied another double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in a 92-61 win at Penn State Brandywine in the lone game last week for the Knights. The junior was 3-for-3 from the line and blocked a pair of Lions' shots.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Steven Dao (Jr., F, Immaculata): Registered seven rebounds and a steal vs. Misericordia on 11/21/2022 and recorded 10 rebounds with one steal and one blocked shot vs. Arcadia on 11/27/2022.
Aziz Parker (Jr., G, Gwynedd Mercy): In one game for the week Parker had a strong finish shooting 9-11 from the field with 21 points. He also added two assists and four rebounds in the only game against Alvernia for the week.
Justin Smith (Sr., F, Neumann): Justin Smith netted 19 points in a 93-61 win over Penn State Brandywine in Neumann's only game last week. The senior went a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the line. He also grabbed five rebounds and clocked two shots.
