Akers, McLaughlin Named Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

Lancaster, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Lacrosse weekly honors on Monday, as Marymount University's Clark Akers was named Offensive Player of the Week while Neumann University's Brett McLaughlin earned Defensive Player of the Week.

Brief Outlook of Week: Akers exploded for 14 points across two contests for the Saints last week. The senior led the 19-6 demolition of Cornell College with six goals and four assists. He followed that up with four goals and two ground balls in MU's snowy tilt against Southwestern (Tex.).


Defensive Player of the Week:

Brief Outlook of Week: McLaughlin continued to carry a stout Neumann defense that allowed just four goals in Wednesday’s 14-4 win at Goucher. The senior helped shutout the Gophers for a stretch of 24:38 in the game, while adding a pair of goals and an assist as well as three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Drew Conlon (Neumann/Senior/Attack): Conlon again led a potent Neumann attack in the team’s lone game of the week, as the Knights picked up a 14-4 non-conference victory at Goucher College. The senior attacker played a part in eight of Neumann’s 14 goals, scoring five times and adding three assists on the evening. For the season, he now leads the team with 17 goals and 12 assists for 29 points.

Bailey Manion (Immaculata/Freshman/Attack): Freshman Bailey Manion recorded a stellar performance on Wednesday when the Macs faced Drew. Manion scored four goals and added four assists on 10 shots as he was involved in all but one of the Macs’ goals on the game.
