HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Baseball weekly award winners on Monday, with Marymount’s Anthony Farmakides being named Player of the Week and Liam Progulske being named Pitcher of the Week.
Player of the Week: Anthony Farmakides
School: Marymount
Class: Graduate
Position: First Baseman
Hometown: Falls Church, Va.
High School: McClean
Brief Outlook of Week: Farmakides put up a productive week at the plate, hitting for a .450 average, slugging .650%. The graduate student knocked a home run and a double, driving in 12 total RBI’s across five games. He posted a perfect fielding percentage and was involved in two double plays for the Saints as part of his 25 putouts. Additionally, through his five games, Farmakides did not strike out a single time, rather, he was hit by two pitches and walked three times.
Pitcher of the Week: Liam Progulske
School: Marymount
Class: Senior
Position: Pitcher
Hometown: Sebastian, Fla.
High School: Sebastian River
Brief Outlook of Week: Progulske picked up the win over North Central (Minn.) down in Florida. He tossed 6.0 shutout innings, allowed just one hit, and struck out nine, eight of which left the batters looking.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Jimmy Decarlo, Gwynedd Mercy: DeCarlo was 10-for-20 with two walks, three runs, and three RBI’s over a 1-4 closing stretch at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. He knocked in a run in the first three games of the week as he went 4-for-4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI in the loss to Albion College to close the streak.
Danny Nocito, Immaculata: Nocito had six RBI's last week for Immaculata, including going 2-4 with an RBI double and an RBI single vs Bridgewater State on Monday. In Saturday's win over Otterbein 2-3 with two runs scored, and a grand slam home run for Immaculata.
Evan Bruder, Marywood: Bruder led the Pacers with a .522 batting average across six games in Florida. He finished the week batting 12-of-23, with seven runs and six RBI’s. Bruder became one of nine players in Marywood history to record five base hits in a single game. He went 5-for-6 with four RBIs and two runs in a victory over Washington (Md.).
Rey Carrier, Neumann: Carrier pitched 1.1 innings in relief and picked up a 4-3 win over Alvernia. The sophomore allowed one unearned run on one hit, and struck out one.
Trevor Policastro, Saint Elizabeth: Policastro played a key role for the Eagles on both sides of the ball, batting .455 (5-for-11), with a .455 SLG%, and a .600 OB%. He also stole two bases, and drew four walks. Policastro pitched 5.0 innings for the Eagles, in his lone start against Manhattanville, surrendering one earned run, while striking out three batters along the way.
Stephen Crandall, Saint Elizabeth: Crandall was able to help contribute to the Eagles loan win this past week, as he shut down St. Joseph's Brooklyn's line up. Going 5.0 shutout innings, he picked up one strikeout, and only allowed two hits.
