Marywood's Purdy and Gwynedd Mercy's Sharkey Earned Weekly Women's Basketball Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday, as Marywood's Savannah Purdy earned Player of the Week and Gwynedd Mercy’s Cayla Sharkey was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Name: Savannah Purdy
School: Marywood University
Class: Senior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Sweet Valley, Pa.
High School: Lake-Lehman
Brief Outlook of Week:  Purdy produced 24 points in a 78-71 loss to Delaware Valley. Purdy was 9 of 13 from the field to score her highest point total since her freshman season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Cayla Sharkey
School:  Gwynedd Mercy University
Class: Senior
Position: Forward
Hometown:  Lansdale, Pa.
High School:  North Penn
Brief Outlook of Week: Sharkey finished with a team-high 12 rebounds in one game this week and as well as six points, both three pointers. She also had two assists and three steals.

 
Weekly Honor Roll:

Lynzie Eggers (Jr., Guard, Gwynedd Mercy): In one game this week Eggers finished with 21 points and five rebounds. She also was 6-6 from the free throw line, while adding, five rebounds, a block, and an assist.
