Gwynedd Mercy’s Crossley and Marywood's McGee Tabbed Women's Basketball Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday, as Gwynedd Mercy’s Haley Crossley earned Player of the Week and Marywood's Abbey McGee was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Player of the Week:
Name: Haley Crossley
School: Gwynedd Mercy University
Class: Senior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
High School:  William Tennent
Brief Outlook of Week: Crossley in three games this week finished with 23 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. She also totaled seven steals, two blocks, and 13 assists in a 3-0 week.
 
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Abbey McGee
School:  Marywood
Class: Sophomore
Position: Guard
Hometown: Mahanoy City, Pa.
High School: Mahanoy Area
Brief Outlook of Week: McGee had an incredible week averaging a triple double to lead Marywood to a pair of wins over SUNY Delhi and Keystone. The sophomore was key contributor on the defensive side of the ball tallying 3.5 steals and 12 rebounds per game. In the game against Keystone she tallied 11 defensive rebounds on the night. She averaged 14.5 points, and 10 assists across the two games.
 
Weekly Honor Roll:

Lauren Klieber (So., Guard, Neumann): Klieber average 22.0 points in a 2-0 week for the Knights. In a 64-37 win over St., Mary’s, the sophomore netted 18 points. She followed with 26 points, including the game winning basket, in a 61-59 win at Ursinus to get Neumann back to .500 on the season.  

Cayla Sharkey (Sr., Forward, Gwynedd Mercy): Sharkey in three games this week finished with a total of 10 blocks and eight assists. She also averaged 8.3 rebounds per game and two steals per game. Sharkey added 6.3 points per game in the 2-1 week.

Symantha Shackelford (Sr., Guard, Marymount): Shackelford led the saints with a season-high 22 points in a come-from-behind road win on Saturday against Salisbury. She hit a season-high four 3-pointers while hitting 57.1 percent from beyond the arc. The Saints are currently 10-1 riding a seven-game winning steak while earning 13 points in the latest national ranking from d3hoops.com.
