LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday, as Neumann University's Lauren Klieber earned Player of the Week and Gwynedd Mercy’s Haley Crossley was named Defensive Player of the Week.

School: Neumann University

Brief Outlook of Week: Klieber averaged 24.0 points and 11.0 rebounds as Neumann opened the 2022-23 season 1-2. The sophomore opened the season, netting a week-high 29 points at Arcadia. In a tournament over the weekend, Klieber had a double-double in each game. She had 21 points and 11 rebounds against Goucher and followed with 22 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Mount Aloysius.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Haley Crossley
School: Gwynedd Mercy University
Class: Senior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
High School: William Tennent
Brief Outlook of Week: Crossley in three games this week finished with ten steals, three blocks and 29 rebounds for an average of 9.7 per game. She also tallied 58 points averaging a team-high 19.3 points a game, while added seven assists on the week.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Abbey McGee (So., Marywood): McGee led the Pacers to a 73-43 victory over Penn College in their season opener. McGee finished with 16 points, making 6 of 9 baskets from the field. She added five rebounds, four assists and two steals
Brie Opdyke (Jr., Centenary): Opdyke led the Cyclones in scoring both games during their 2-0 weekend. She put together a 15.5 PPG average with a team and career high 19 versus Clarks Summit. She also added 6.0 RBPG and 5 total assists.
Symantha Shackelford (Sr., Marymount): Shackelford had a big week for the Saints to start off the season. The senior dropped 47 total points across all three games, averaging 15.7. She shot .429 from the floor. After helping the Saints to a trophy at the McDaniel Tipoff Tournament, Shackelford was name the tournament MVP after putting up 18 points in the championship game.
