LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday, as Lauren Klieber from Neumann earned Player of the Week and Marywood's Abbey McGee was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Player of the Week:
Name: Lauren Klieber
School: Neumann University
Class: Sophomore
Position: Guard
Hometown: West Chester, Pa.
High School: West Chester East
Brief Outlook of Week: Klieber averaged 22.0 points and 13.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Knights. In a loss against Lancaster Bible, the sophomore tallied 18 points and 17 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. She added two blocks. In a come-from-behind win at Wilkes, Klieber scored 26 points, grabbed nine rebounds and three steals.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Abbey McGee
School: Marywood
Class: Sophomore
Position: Guard
Hometown: Mahanoy City, Pa.
High School: Mahanoy Area
Brief Outlook of Week: McGee had back-to-back double-doubles to lead Marywood to its fourth and fifth consecutive wins. She averaged 17 points and 12.5 points per game in wins over Wilkes and Susquehanna. McGee posted 16 points and 13 rebounds with four blocks and two steals to defeat the Colonels. She finished the week with an 18-point, 12-rebound performance against the River Hawks.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Olivia Ciullo (So., G, Marywood): Ciullo averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game to lead Marywood to a pair of wins over Wilkes and Susquehanna. She posted a double-double of 24 points and 12 boards to defeat the Colonels for the second time in 10 days. Ciullo got the best of her former team with a 16-point performance to down the River Hawks.
Chandler Eddleton (Sr., F, Marymount): Eddleton played an integral role in helping Marymount extend its win streak to six games with a 2-0 ledger last week. In a 32-point win over Gallaudet, Eddleton nabbed a career-high seven steals. She also had a steal and block in the impressive 63-53 win over previously-unbeaten (8-0) Mary Washington. She also averaged 12.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg for the week.
Natalie O’Neil (Jr., F, Gwynedd Mercy): O'Neill finished in one game this week with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. She also recorded two steals.
Symantha Shackelford (Sr., G, Marymount): Shackelford averaged 19 ppg in a 2-0 week for Marymount women's basketball. Her performance helped MU extend its win streak to six games with a dominant 32-point win over Gallaudet and a statement victory over previously-unbeaten (8-0) Mary Washington on Saturday. The senior shot 40 percent from beyond the arc and went 10-of-11 from the free-throw line on the week.
