Gwynedd Mercy's Ciran and Marywood's Ament Receive Men's Lacrosse Weekly Award Honors

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men’s Lacrosse weekly award winners on Monday as Gwynedd Mercy’s Landen Ciran was named Player of the Week and Marywood’s Luke Ament was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Player of the Week: Landen Ciran
School: Gwynedd Mercy
Class: Sophomore
Position: Attack
Hometown: Ephrata, Pa.
High School: Ephrata
Brief Outlook of Week: Ciran was the hero of Gwynedd Mercy University's 8-6 win over FDU-Florham with all four of the Griffins' second-half scores. After recording a goal, a ground ball, and a caused turnover in a loss at Widener, Ciran turned it on against the Devils as he impressed the home crowd with four clutch goals. He put on a show with a pair of third-quarter goals to give Gwynedd Mercy University a 6-4 lead and a pair of fourth-quarter goals to deliver victory. His four scores came with two ground balls.

Defensive Player of the Week: Luke Ament
School: Marywood
Class: Sophomore
Position: Faceoff
Hometown: Nazareth, Pa.
High School: Nazareth
Brief Outlook of Week: Over two games, Ament won 34 of 39 faceoffs for an .872 success rate. He finished with 26 ground balls and one caused turnover. In a loss to McDaniel, Ament was perfect on 17 faceoff chances with 11 ground balls. He went 17 of 22, with 15 ground balls, in a comeback victory over Juniata.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Caleb Gaines, Gwynedd Mercy: Gaines continues to impress at the start of his collegiate career as he totaled 11 ground balls and eight caused turnovers in addition to scoring his first collegiate goal. He recorded seven ground balls and five caused turnovers in a loss at Widener; the Red and Gold rookie scored the Griffins' first goal of an 8-6 home-opener victory over FDU-Florham. After netting his debut tally, he recovered four more ground balls and caused three turnovers to help Gwynedd Mercy University secure the victory against the Devils.

Jason Smaron, Immaculata: Smaron recorded six points across two games for Immaculata, finishing the week with three goals and three assists. He led the offensive effort in Immaculata’s win at Delaware Valley on Wednesday evening, scoring two goals and adding three assists. Smaron followed that performance with another goal in Immaculata’s game at Misericordia on Sunday, continuing his strong offensive stretch for the Mighty Macs.

Connor Hurley, Neumann: Hurley scored two goals, added four assists and five ground balls in two games for the Knights. The senior had two goals and two assists in the home opener against Misericordia. He followed with two goals at Alvernia.
