Marywood's Romaniello, DiToma Awarded Women's Soccer Weekly Accolades

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon, as Marywood University swept the honors with Cara Romaniello earning Offensive Player of the Week and Bella DiToma taking Defensive Player of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week:
Name: Cara Romaniello
School: Marywood University
Class: Junior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Telford, Pa.
High School: Souderton Area
Brief Outlook of Week: Romaniello led the Pacers to a 2-0 Atlantic East week with three goals, including a game-winner, as Marywood picked up shutout wins over Gwynedd Mercy (4-0) and Marymount (2-0). Romaniello scored the second and third goal in the Pacers' win over the Griffins and had the game-winner off a corner kick in the win over the Saints Saturday. For the week, Romaniello made the most of her opportunities, placing all four of her shots on goal and collecting goals on three of them.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Bella DiToma
School: Marywood University
Class: Junior
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: North Syracuse, N.Y.
High School: Cicero-North Syracuse
Brief Outlook of Week: DiToma led a Pacers' defense to two shutout wins on the week, extending their shutout streak to four games overall, with nine saves between the two wins. In a 4-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy, DiToma made four stops, while in a 2-0 win on the road at Marymount Saturday, DiToma made five saves to record her third straight clean sheet. In all, DiToma's scoreless streak has extended to 270 minutes in conference action as the Pacers improved to 3-0 in league play.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Mackenzie Forsythe (Wesley / Senior / Forward): Forsythe registered a goal and assist this week to give the Wolverines a 2-0 week in league play. She now has 11 goals this season, ranking atop the league. 

Karen Reyes (Marymount / Senior / Forward): Reyes scored both of Marymount's goals last week in a 2-2 tie with Neumann. Both goals came within the first 20 minutes of the contest, on a quick start by the Saints. She now has nine goals on the season, ranking second in the conference.

Belle Hughes (Neumann / Sophomore / Defender): Hughes was a key part as Neumann went 1-0-1 in Atlantic East action. Hughes scored both goals as the Knights came from behind to tie Marymount 2-2. The sophomore was an anchor in the 4-0 shutout win over Gwynedd Mercy, as the defense held the Griffins to just three shots in the 90 minutes.
