Griffins' Credidio, McCullough Sweep Women's Soccer Weekly Honors
LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon, with Gwynedd Mercy University sweeping the awards as Amanda Credidio earned Offensive Player of the Week and Emily McCullough was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week:
Name: Amanda Credidio
School: Gwynedd Mercy University
Class: Sophomore
Position: Midfielder
Hometown: Bensalem, Pa.
High School: Bensalem
Brief Outlook of Week: Credidio sparked the Griffin offense with four goals and an assist this week for nine points in a 2-0 week. The sophomore scored a pair of goals against both Penn State-Abington and Bryan Athyn, including two game winning goals. For four goals, she needed 10 shots, eight of which were on target.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Emily McCullough
School: Gwynedd Mercy University
Class: Junior
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: Westville, N.J.
High School: Gateway
Brief Outlook of Week: McCullough earned a shutout while making seven stops against Bryn Athyn on Saturday, in her only time in goal last week. For 90 minutes between the pipes, she saw 11 shots, making seven saves and holding for her first shutout of the year.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Belle Hughes (Neumann / Sophomore / Defender): Hughes scored three goals in a 1-1 week for the Knights. The sophomore tallied two goals in a 3-1 win at Cedar Crest. She followed with the lone goal for Neumann in a 6-1 loss at Eastern.
Courtney Stephens (Marymount / Senior / Forward): Stephens led Marymount to its first win of the season last week, 2-1, over Mary Baldwin. She scored both of the team's goals in the game, including one just 44 seconds into overtime to capture the victory. Her four points on the week led the team.
Diana VanSickle (Cabrini / Senior / Midfielder): VanSickle was a constant presence in the Cavalier offense as she tallied a pair of goals on the week, one coming in each of the Cavs' 3-1 victories over Rutgers-Camden and Notre Dame of Maryland University. Her eight shots and four shots on goal in the two games also paced the Blue and White attack. VanSickle is now tied for second on the team with three goals.
