HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Volleyball weekly award winners on Monday, with Gwynedd Mercy’s Kate Etter being named Player of the Week and Marymount’s Emerson Aber being named Defensive Player of the Week.
Player of the Week: Kate Etter
School: Gwynedd Mercy
Class: Senior
Position: Pin Hitter
Hometown: Chambersburg, Pa.
High School: Chambersburg Area Senior
Brief Outlook of Week: Etter averaged 4.00 digs per set, 2.90 kills per set and 3.10 points per set across three games. She totaled 40 digs, 31 points and 29 kills on the week, hitting .078%.
Specialty Player of the Week: Emerson Aber
School: Marymount
Class: Senior
Position: Setter
Hometown: Cumming, Ga.
High School: Denmark
Brief Outlook of Week: Aber facilitated the offense for the Saints in their 2-2 outing at the Battlefield Classic this past weekend. Notching 103 total assists, averaging 6.44 per set, the senior setter 37 blocks for 2.31 per set. She made her presence felt on the serve, knocking 11 service aces and 15 points.
Weekly Honor Roll:
P.J. Mendoza, Gwynedd Mercy: Mendoza averaged 5.70 digs per set, totaling 57 across her three games.
Tara Hirschtritt, Immaculata: Hirschtritt had an outstanding opening week for the Mighty Macs, helping Immaculata to a 2-2 record. She totaled 42 assists, 33.5 points, and 27 kills across the week, ending with a career-best 12 kills while hitting .588 in a 3-0 victory over Penn College. Hirschtritt averaged 2.58 points per set and 3.23 assists per set.
Adriana Ventura, Immaculata: Ventura totaled 20 assists, 42 digs, and eight service aces across four matches. She opened the season with 15 digs and five aces in a 3-1 victory over Delaware Valley, added 10 digs against Rutgers-Camden and nine against DeSales, all before closing the week with eight digs and three aces in a 3-0 victory over Penn College.
Brigid Donahue, Marymount: In her first weekend of competition at the collegiate level, Donahue shined and led the Saints to a 2-2 record to start the year. Racking up 47.0 total points across four matches, she averaged 2.63 kills per set to lead the offense. She put up 10 assisted blocks to average 0.63 per set to add to her offensive threat.
