Immaculata and Holy Family Advance to Women's Flag Football Semifinals

HADDONFIELD, N.J. – No. 3 Immaculata and No. 5 Holy Family advance to the Atlantic East semifinals after first round victories.

No. 3 Immaculata defeated No. 6 Penn State Schuylkill Centenary with a 27-0 victory. No. 5 Holy Family hit the road, taking on No. 4 Neumann, to come away with a 33-7 victory.

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata Mighty Macs (15-3, 13-3 AEC) earned their first-ever playoff win, shutting out Penn State Schuylkill 27–0 in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament first-round game.
 
After a quiet first quarter, Immaculata took control in the second and never let up. Quarterback Devan Cosgrove led the offense with three touchdown passes, helping build a 13–0 halftime lead. The game broke open in the third quarter thanks to a 60-yard pick-six by Theresa Jappah, who also added another interception on the next drive.
 
Immaculata's defense stayed locked in the entire game, recording multiple interceptions and sacks to preserve the shutout.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST PENN STATE SCHUYLKILL
  • After a scoreless opening quarter, the Mighty Macs found their rhythm in the second and never looked back.
  • Immaculata opened the scoring when Taylor Eagan caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Devan Cosgrove to cap a 10-play drive to give Immaculata a 7-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter.
  • Immaculata extended its lead to 13-0, when Eliana Szatkowski caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Cosgrove. The point after attempt failed, as Immaculata led 13-0 at halftime.
  • The game swung fully in Immaculata's favor in the third quarter when Theresa Jappah returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown. Jappah then intercepted a second pass on the PSU Schuylkill's next possession.
  • The Mighty Macs closed out the scoring later in the third quarter, when Jaclyn Molinini caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Cosgrove to cap a five-play drive and extended the lead to 27-0.
  • Immaculata's defense stymied PSU Schuylkill in the fourth quarter as Frankie Brunkel had an interception, and Natalie Dodd and Khaliyah Gaines added sacks to help preserve the shutout.

ASTON, Pa. - The fifth-seeded Holy Family University Flag Football Team upset fourth-seeded Neumann, 33-7, in the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Tournament First Round on Tuesday night to earn the first postseason victory in program history.
 
Up Next
HFU travels to top-seeded Eastern, the host of both the semifinals and championship game, on Saturday. The Tigers take on the host in the first semifinal at 10 a.m., with the winner advancing to the 2 p.m. championship game against either Marymount or Immaculata. 
 
Highlights
Holy Family scored the first 27 points, highlighted by a 14-0 second quarter that made it 21-0 at the half. 
 
Aalyce Davis (Philadelphia, Pa./Bethel Baptist Academy) played a part in four of the five touchdowns, throwing for two and rushing for two more as she totaled a combined 170 offensive yards. 
 
Kierann Cusick (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) scored twice, once on the ground and once through the air, with Delaney Minnich (Philadelphia, Pa./Abraham Lincoln) catching the other one. 
 
Defensively, Kylie Cooley (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts Catholic) and Alexis Tina McLeod (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) both intercepted two passes, while Davis added another. 
 
Cooley led the Tigers with four tackles, while McLeod, Cusick, Morgan Simms and Alannis Clavel-Lopez (Philadelphia, Pa./Abraham Lincoln) each had three.
