LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Tennis weekly award winner on Monday, as Neumann’s Joe Troilo and Immaculata’s Sophia Carey won the Men’s and Women’s Player of the Week award, respectively.
Men’s Player of the Week:
Name: Joe Troilo
School: Neumann University
Class: Senior
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
High School: Neumann-Goretti
Brief Outlook of Week: Joe Troilo went 1-0 in singles and doubles action in a 5-2 win over Eastern in the lone match of the week. Troilo and partner Trevor Lodge picked up a 7-6 (7-4) win at second doubles as the Knights swept doubles action. He followed with a 6-3, 6-0 win at third singles.
Women’s Player of the Week:
Name: Sophia Carey
School: Immaculata University
Class: Freshman
Hometown: Penns Grove, N.J.
High School: Cardinal O’Hara
Brief Outlook of Week: Sophia Carey won the third singles match vs DeSales on Tuesday afternoon 6-3, 3-6, 10-4. Carey and her doubles partner won the second doubles match at DeSales 6-4.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Nicholas Brown (So., Immaculata): Nicholas Brown won the second singles match vs DeSales 2-6, 7-5, 12-10 on April 1st.
Molly McGee (Jr., Neumann): Molly McGee went 1-1 in singles action and 1-0 in doubles action in a 1-1 week for Neumann. In a 6-1 win over Eastern, McGee and doubles partner Kaitlyn Smith won 7-5 in the second slot. She battled, but fell 6-2, 6-3 at fifth singles. In a 5-2 loss at Stockton, McGee won her fifth singles match 6-1, 6-1.
