Pratt captures Atlantic East Women's Tennis title

ASTON, Pa. — The Pratt Institute women's tennis team swept Marywood University 4-0 on Sunday afternoon to win the 2025 Atlantic East Conference Women's Tennis Championship. Newcomers to the conference this academic year, it is the first Atlantic East title for the Cannoneers in any sport and first conference championship since attaining full NCAA membership in 2022.

First-year standout Kayla Abraham led Pratt with commanding victories at No. 1 singles and doubles, ultimately earning Tournament MVP honors. Abraham teamed up with Pallavi Verghese for a dominant 6-0 win in No. 1 doubles play, while teammates Beatrice Crespo and Ariana Castro sealed the doubles point at the No. 2 spot, 6-2.
Pratt continued its momentum into singles competition, securing the championship with straight-set victories.

Abraham clinched the title with a decisive 6-1, 6-0 win at the top singles position. Crespo (6-0, 6-0) and Julia Ognibene (6-0, 6-1) earned decisive points at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively, to complete the sweep.

The Cannoneers also had leads at courts two and four with Verghese and Castro up a set when the match was clinched.

Selected as the preseason favorites, Pratt completes a perfect season against conference opponents and concludes the 2024-25 campaign with a 14-2 overall record and riding an eight-match winning streak.
