LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Flag Football weekly award winners on Monday, as Holy Family’s Aalyce Davis and Marymount’s Yesly Xante won Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.
Player of the Week:
Name: Aalyce Davis
School: Holy Family University
Class: Sophomore
Position: Running Back
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
High School: Bethel Baptist
Brief Outlook of Week: Davis led HFU in rushing in both contests, totaling 106 yards highlighted by the game-winning 39-yard touchdown against Centenary, as the Tigers picked up their first two win in program history on Saturday. She added a team-high three receptions and 25 receiving yards versus the Cyclones, and two receptions for 16 yards in a win over Penn State Schuylkill.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Yesly Xante
School: Marymount University
Class: Sophomore
Position: Blitzer
Hometown: Alexandria, Va.
High School: Alexandria, Va.
Brief Outlook of Week: Yesly Xante disrupted the Neumann offense in Sunday's win over the Knights as a blitzer. Notching four total tackles, Xante was a key part of the defense that kept Neumann scoreless, securing Marymount's fifth conference win. She went on to collect multiple tackles against UVA in the nightcap, continuing to show strong as one of the Saints' main blitzers.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Kaylah Barr (Fy., Marymount): Kaylah Barr had a dominant weekend for the Saints as they took two more on Sunday, one against AEC foe Neumann. Notching a receiving touchdown against the Knights on three total receptions, she went on to collect a big receiving TD against UVA in the night cap to secure the two wins for Marymount.
Ryliegh Sinko (Fy., PSU-Schuylkill): After the starting quarterback went down with an injury, Ryliegh Sinko stepped in and kept the offense moving. Throwing for 328 yards and a touchdown this week, Sinko showed composure and adaptability in a tough situation.
Morgan Sims (Fr., Holy Family): Sims had five tackles, four pass breakups and two interceptions, one in each contest, as HFU picked up its first two wins in program history, over Centenary and Penn State State Schuylkill, on Saturday.
Sierra Wishnefsky (Jr., PSU-Schuylkill): Sierra Wishnefsky put in a strong defensive effort this week, totaling 20 flag pulls and bringing her season total to 31 tackles. Her steady play helped keep the defense engaged and contributed to the team’s performance.
Jenna Magrino (Fr., Centenary): She had 10 carries for 100 yards vs holy family and 12 carries for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns versus penn state in the win
