Schwenk Places 10th in 100-Backstroke, Miller Competes in 200-Yard Butterfly, at NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Luke Schwenk (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and sophomore Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) continue at the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Friday (Mar. 21).

Schwenk collected his sixth career All-America award at the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championships Friday as Schwenk claimed a 10th-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Milller competed in the 200-yard butterfly. 
 
Schwenk, who entered the morning preliminaries seeded seventh with an entry time of 47.95, came in ninth in 48.23, just missing a spot in the evening's championship finals by 0.17 seconds. The 6-2 captain headed into the night's consolation finals as the top qualifier.
 
He took the early lead in the consolation finals, but Calvin College's Charles Platt closed it out and won the consolation finals in 47.90 for ninth overall. Schwenk clocked a 48.17 for second in the consolations and 10th overall, cementing his sixth overall All-America award and third Second Team All-America honor.
 
Schwenk posted a seventh-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in 47.98 at the 2024 NCAA Championships for First Team All-America honors.
 
He will be back in the pool tomorrow morning, Saturday, March 22, competing in the 100-yard freestyle. Schwenk will enter Saturday's preliminaries seeded seventh with an entry time of 43.72. Last season, he finished 18th in the 100-yard freestyle in 44.69.
 
Miller took third in her heat with a time of 2:07.19, knocking off more than a second from her seed time of 2:08.77. She placed 31st overall in the 41-person field after entering the preliminaries seeded 38th.
 
She will be back in the pool tomorrow morning, Saturday, March 22, for her final event – the 100-yard freestyle. Last season, Miller came in 33rd in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.77.
