Neumann and Marymount advance to AEC MBB Title Game

The final of the 2024-2025 Atlantic East Men’s Basketball Championship is set as both home teams won their respective games to clinch a spot in the title match on Saturday.

Top-seeded Neumann defeated fifth-seeded Marywood, 69-48; while second-seeded Marymount defeated third-seeded Gwynedd Mercy 102-86 on Wednesday night.

Marymount will be looking for its third-straight Atlantic East title, while Neumann will be looking to win its first AEC crown since 2021-22, while the Knights defeated Marymount.

Host Marymount put six players in double figures in the win, paced by 20 points from Marcus Stubbs and 16 points from Miles Phillips. Isaac Harris had 14 points while Reuben McEachern had 13 off of the bench.

Marymount shot 67.3 percent in the win, including 16-for-22 in the second half (72.7 percent).  

Shawn Summers, Jr. had 26 points for Gwynedd Mercy, while; Aquil Stewart had 17. The Griffins shot 52.5 percent from the field and 42.9 percent (9-for-21) from three point land.

The Neumann University Men's Basketball team defeated Marywood University in the Atlantic East Conference tournament semifinals on Wednesday night by a final of 89-69. Not only does that clinch a spot in the championship game, but it was also Jim Rullo's 200th coaching victory at Neumann.

Donte Dupriest led the way with 20 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double, adding a team-high five assists as well. Five Knights ended up with double digit points as DJ Earl put up 19, TJ Lewis had 17, Bryan Etienne had 12, and Bryan Warren dropped 10.

Brendan Franko and Michel Loftin each had 12 points for Marywood.
