Immaculata's Mullins, Gwynedd Mercy's Bell named Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Basketball weekly award winners on Monday, as Immaculata’s Reese Mullins and Gwynedd Mercy’s Kailyn Bell won Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.

Name: Reese Mullins
School: Immaculata University

Brief Outlook of Week: Reese Mullins registered her sixth double-double of the season scoring 24 points, with 10 rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals helping to lead Immaculata to a 89-74 Atlantic East Conference win over Centenary on Saturday.  Mullins was a plus 17 in the game.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Kailyn Bell
School: Gwynedd Mercy University
Class: Freshman
Position: Guard
Hometown: Ridley Park, Pa.     
High School: Ridley
Brief Outlook of Week: Bell showcased her talents in a 59-51 AEC victory over Marymount University recording a season-high 18 points (7-of-9, 78%), four rebounds, and two assists, two blocks, and four steals. She was 7-of-9 (.778) from the field with a pair of threes (2-of-2, 1.000) and a pair of free throws (2-of-2, 1.000). It was her fourth straight double digit scoring performance and her eighth such effort of the season.
 
Weekly Honor Roll:
Tessa Liberatoscioli (5th., Immaculata): Tessa Liberatoscioli had seven rebounds, including six defensive rebounds, one blocked shot, two steals, two assists, and 14 points in helping lead Immaculata to an 89-74 Atlantic East Conference win over Centenary on Saturday.
 
Brie Opdyke (Sr., Centenary): To go along with a solid offensive performance this past week, Opdyke had a stellar week for the Cyclones on the defensive end. The senior guard finished the week with a total of 5 steals, and 15 rebounds.
 
Catie Kolwey (So., Marymount): Sophomore Catie Kolwey remained a force underneath the basket for Marymount. Swatting away four blocks and grabbing seven total rebounds, Kolwey added 7.0 points per game while shooting 86% from the floor.
 
Vatijah Davis (Sr., Centenary): Despite the Cyclones falling in both games this week, Davis had a dominant performance in both games. Davis concluded the week with a total of 43 points, 23 rebounds, 3 steals, and a block. For the week, Davis posted a double-double in both games.
 
Emily DuPont (Sr., Neumann): Emily DuPont scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds in a 67-62 win at Centenary in Neumann’s lone game of the week. She also added six steals, three assists and two blocks as the Knights improve to 2-1 in Atlantic East action.
 
Samantha Bulik (Sr., Marymount): Helping the Saints to a 1-1 week, senior Samantha Bulik averaged 16.0 points per game, notching 18 in Saturday's decisive win over Marywood, while shooting 43% from the floor and three-point range. Adding 14 total rebounds, 7.0 per game, the guard also dished out five assists and nabbed five steals.
