LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Softball All-Conference teams and major award winners on Tuesday afternoon, as Marymount, Centenary and Marywood each earn major honors.
For the second straight season top honors went to Marymount’s
Kaylynn Johnson. The third basemen finished the year with top five stats in seven categories. Johnson finished conference play with a league high 17 RBIs, while sitting second in homeruns (4), slugging percentage (.875) and hits (17). For the season Johnson had 50 hits and 45 runs batted in to lead the league.
Pitcher of the Year honors went to Centenary’s
Jaelynn Miller. Miller had the best ERA in the league at 1.71 to go along with 160 strikeouts from 172.1 innings pitched. Miller pitched 51.1 innings in conference action with six wins and two saves to lead Centenary to a regular season and Atlantic East tournament title for the first time in history.
Marywood’s
Kat Davis earns Rookie of the Year honors after a strong first campaign. The first year was named to the All-Conference First team for here work at second base. Davis finished the season with a .290 batting average and 38 hits to go with 12 RBIs and 12 walks. Davis fielded .955 fielding percentage in conference play.
Centenary was awarded Coaching Staff of the Year after a first conference title and 29-14 overall record and a 10-2 conference record. The Cyclones are led by Kim Broking, and assisted by Len Kunz, and graduate assistant Justine Stefura. Centenary continues the season with the NCAA tournament starting on Thursday, May 16
th.
Lastly, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for softball, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, was awarded to
Emma McNally. McNally maintains a cumulative 3.97 GPA as part of the conference runner up softball team.
