LANCASTER, Pa. –The 2024 Atlantic East Conference Softball Championship is set to begin on Friday, May 3
rd and crown the champion on Saturday May 11
th. The Atlantic East Champion will earn the conference’s NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifier (AQ).
The tournament seeding is as follows: 1. Centenary, 2. Marymount, 3. Marywood, 4. Gwynedd Mercy, 5. Neumann, 6. Cabrini
The tournament will begin on Friday, May 3
rd with two locations for games. The top two seeds will each host a three-team pod. No. 1 Centenary will host No. 4 Gwynedd Mercy. and No. 6 Cabrini for a double elimination series in Pod A. No. 2 Marymount will play host to Pod B which will feature No. 3 Marywood and No. 5 Neumann.
The second weekend will have the winners advance to Best-of-Three Championship series at the highest remaining seed. These games will be played on Friday May 10
th and Saturday, May 11
th.
The conference regular season finished with a three-way tie in the standings. The tie was between Neumann, Cabrini, and Immaculata. Each team finished with and 4-8 conference record. Amongst the teams Neumann was 4-0 against the other two with Cabrini also having two wins against Immaculata. Neumann defeated Cabrini head-to-head twice to earn the No. 5 seed in the tournament.
Centenary earns the top seed for the first time in the Atlantic East Tournament. No. 6. Cabrini will look to repeat as the conference champions back-to-back title for the Cavaliers. Since the conference inception in 2018, Neumann, Wesley, and Cabrini each won a conference title.
