LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Baseball weekly award winners on Monday, as Neumann’s Marcus White and Immaculata’s Stephen DiBattista earn Player and Pitcher of the Week honors respectively.
Player of the Week:
Name: Marcus White
School: Neumann
Class: Senior
Position: Infield
Hometown: Burlington, N.J.
High School: Burlington
Brief Outlook of Week: White hit .400 (4-for-10) in two games as Neumann went 2-0 in non-conference action. Three of his four hits were for extra bases: one double and two homeruns. The senior knocked in seven runs and scored four. In a 15-9 win over Manhattanville, White knocked in five runs. White finished the week with a slugging percentage of 1.100 for the Knights on the week.
Pitcher of the Week:
Name: Stephen DiBattista
School: Immaculata
Class: Graduate Student
Position: Pitcher
Hometown: Clifton Heights, Pa.
High School: Monsignor Bonner
Brief Outlook of Week: DiBattista earned the win, going eight shutout innings, allowing only three hits, and struck out six in Immaculata's 10-0 win over Ursinus on March 15th.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Josh Crowding (Gr., Catcher, Immaculata): Josh Crowding was a combined 6-for-10, with three runs scored, a home run, and six RBIs over three games this week. He went 3-for-4 with three RBIs vs Hood on March 12th. He went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in the team's win over Ursinus on March 12th.
Christian Michak (So., Center Field, Marywood): Michak led the Pacers to an 6-2 record over Spring Break with a .461 batting average, 10 runs and six RBIs. Michak stole seven bases in eight games. In a doubleheader sweep over Western Connecticut State, Michak went 4 for 7 with five stolen bases, five runs, and three RBIs. Defensively, he finished with an outfield assist in four consecutive games.
Vic Mejia (Jr., Pitcher, Neumann): In his lone appearance of the week, Vic Mejia went 5.0 inning in a start against Manhattanville. Over the 5.0 innings, he allowed just two hits, no runs, and struck out a batter in the no decision. The Knights eventually won the game 15-9.
Andrew Smith (Sr., Pitcher, Cabrini): Smith's stellar outing helped break a Cabrini single-game strikeout record against Albright. He threw 4.2 scoreless innings for the Cavaliers, tying the single-game individual program record with 11 punchouts. Smith and two others combined to deliver 16 strikeouts on the day, shattering Cabrini baseball's previously held single-game team record of 12.
