LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Basketball weekly award winners on Monday, as Centenary’s Vatijah Davis and Marymount’s Ella Morrison won Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.
Player of the Week:
Name: Vatijah Davis
School: Centenary University
Class: Sophomore
Position: Forward
Hometown: Poconos, Pa.
High School: Pocono Mountain West
Brief Outlook of Week: After earning player of the week honors for the Atlantic East Conference (12/2-12/8), Vatijah Davis had another stellar week for the Cyclones, helping the team post a 2-0 record. Davis ended the week with a total of 51 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks. Davis, who currently sits amongst one of the nation's leaders in double-doubles, picked up her sixth double-double of the season, in a game where she recorded 31 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists against a 9-1 Bryn Athyn team. Against York (NY), Davis shot 9-10 from the floor marking a career high in field goal percentage.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Ella Morrison
School: Marymount University
Class: Junior
Position: Guard
Hometown: South Boston, Va.
High School: Halifax County
Brief Outlook of Week: Helping the Saints notch a 46-42 win over Washington College (Md.) on Saturday, Morrison was a threat on both ends of the court. Dropping 10 points and grabbing nine boards, narrowly missing a double-double, the junior added a pair of blocks to her credit alongside four assists.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Erin Eisenhart (Jr., Gwynedd Mercy): Eisenhart led Gwynedd Mercy University in a 70-69 loss at Penn State Harrisburg with a career-high 27 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and four steals. She also recorded 11 points, four rebounds, and three steals in an 83-58 loss at Albright College.
Reese Mullins (Sr., Immaculata): Reese Mullins registered her third double-double of the season at Arcadia on Saturday, scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Mullins added four assists, one blocked shot, and had three steals for the Mighty Macs.
Samantha Bulik (Sr., Marymount): Bulik continued was the leading scorer in Marymount's 46-42 win over Washington College (Md.) on Saturday afternoon. Dropping 17 total points, the guard shot 5-of-8 from the floor, 3-5 from three-point range, adding five rebounds and a steal to her credit.
Rachel McDonald (Sr., Marywood): McDonald carried the Pacers to a 2-1 week with 15 points and 5.3 assists per game. McDonald scored a career-best 25 points in a win over Rosemont. She made .692 percent of her attempts and four 3-pointers, leading the Pacers in all offensive and defensive categories. The South Abington, Pa. native added 12 points in a loss to Penn State Altoona. McDonald provided eight assists and eight points in a victory over Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Over three games, she had a .552 field goal percentage and made all eight free-throw attempts.
Aubrie Breisblatt (Sr., Neumann): Aubrie Breisblatt scored a career high 25 points in a 75-60 win over Delaware Valley in the lone game of the week. In 29 minutes, the senior hit 10 field goals, two from beyond the arc, went 3-for-3 from the line, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots.
Emily DuPont (Sr, Neumann): Emily DuPont netted 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 75-60 win over Delaware Valley in the lone game of the week for Neumann. In 26 minutes of action, the senior went 4-for-4 from the line, tallied four steals, three assists and one block.
