Softball 5/13/2022 7:28:00 AM Mirenda, Hamm Headline Softball All-Conference Teams LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Softball All-Conference teams and major award winners on Friday morning, as Cabrini University and Marywood University earned major honors. Cabrini's Ariana Mirenda was named Player of the Year after a stellar regular season. The sophomore led the conference in hits, runs and maintained a .463 batting average. Mirenda had 50 hits, 8 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homeruns, 18 RBI and a .630 slugging percentage. The outfielder also held a .974 fielding percentage with 54 putouts, 21 assists and only 2 errors to lead Cabrini to their first Atlantic East Conference title this season. Mara Hamm of Marywood earned the Pitcher of the Year accolade after having a 6-1 conference record (14-3 overall), a conference best 1.30 ERA and 84 strikeouts. Hamm helped her squad clinch the #1 seed and hosting rights for the conference playoffs. Marywood's freshman shortstop, Lindsey Jason, garnered Rookie of the Year after owning a .400 batting average, good for sixth in the conference, and having 40 hits with 5 doubles, one triple, one homerun and 19 RBI. As the shortstop, Jason had 40 putouts and 46 assists. Marywood was awarded Coaching Staff of the Year after earning the top seed for the 2022 Atlantic East Softball Playoffs with an 11-1 conference record. The coaching staff, consisting of John Butash, Brian Sarafinko and John DeMatteo guided the Pacers to a runner-up finish in the Conference Championship Series and the ECAC Softball Title. Lastly, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for softball, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, was awarded to Mara Hamm of Marywood University.
