Cabrini Wins Third Straight Men's Golf Championship

MALVERN, PA – The Cabrini men's golf team cruised to a third consecutive Atlantic East Conference title today.

The Cavaliers entered today's final round with a 19 stroke lead after an opening round 316, but the squad sliced 11 strokes from yesterday's total for a36 hole team score of 621, besting second place Marywood by 34 strokes.

By virtue of today's championship, the Cavaliers have secured the league's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Tournament. The team's sixth NCAA Tournament appearance will take place May 10-13 at Mission Inn and Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fl.

All five Cavaliers matched or improved on their opening round scores, with all five securing All-Atlantic East Conference honors after finishing in the top six of the individual leader board.

Junior Sean Caspar was named Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, after a two day score of 154. Caspar claimed the individual gold after tying with classmate Daniel Murphy, but bested Murphy 76-77 in today's second round to earn the tie breaker.

Fellow junior Liam Caspar won the bronze medal after pairing rounds of 81 and 76, tied with Sean for the day's low round.

Senior Jonathan Papp tied for fourth with a 36 hole score of 158 (80, 78), while classmate Gerald Haftmann's 159 (83, 76) was good for sixth place.

By virtue of today's finish, the Caspars, Murphy and Papp were named to the All-Atlantic East Conference First Team, while Haftmann claimed Second Team accolades.

The Blue and White coaching staff of head coach Tana Thomas and assistants Brad Kane and Ginny Bullock were also named Coaching Staff of the Year. This marks the third consecutive year the Cavaliers have boasted the league's top staff, while Thomas has honored seven times.  

Neumann finished third with a team score of 668, followed New Jersey City (671), Marymount (674) and William Paterson (744).
